The first thing you will want to do after installing GISquirrel is load some data from your existing spatial datasets (shapefiles, personal geodatabases,etc). This is achieved using the Import Layer tool on the GISquirrel toolbar / tab.
Importing a layer requires establishing a connection to a SQL Server or PostGIS database, and thereby setting up a connection file.
