When importing a dataset, GISquirrel will import any default values from the source feature class into the SQL Server or PostGIS database as properties of the table structure definition.

Default values can also be added to the tables after import, using SQL Server or PostGIS management tools.

When a GISquirrel editing session is started, any default values in the source table design will be used in the editing session. This will add the default values to newly created features, and can be used to assign values to merged or split features, depending on the merge/split policies.
